Zoom peepchick101: A high school volunteer at our dog shelter commented to me the other day: “Ever since I saw Donnie in his crate, I haven’t been able to eat chicken. He seemed depressed and I didn’t realize chickens had emotions like that. He was pretty much just like the dogs here so I haven’t eaten chicken for the last 2 weeks.” Donnie (officially “Donnie Darko” :P) is a rooster that we rescued and he stayed at the dog shelter one night before coming to my house, then being transported to a sanctuary.  Sometimes it just takes meeting a chicken, cow, pig or other animal for people to realize they don’t want to eat them! Chickens really aren’t that different than dogs.
